1 Name of Determination
This Determination is the Currency Determination 1999 (No. 3).
2 Commencement
This Determination commences on gazettal.
3 Specification of coins
This Determination specifies, for a coin having the denomination and standard composition specified in columns 2 and 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 1, the standard weight, the allowable variation from that weight, the dimensions and the design specified in columns 4, 5 and 6 of that Part.
4 Application of Determination
This Determination does not affect any other Determination of the specifications of a coin.

(a) the inscriptions:
(i) ‘ELIZABETH II’; and
(ii) ‘AUSTRALIA’; and
(b) an inscription stating, in Arabic numerals, the amount, in dollars or cents, of the denomination of the coin, followed by the word ‘DOLLAR’, ‘DOLLARS’ or ‘CENTS’, as the case requires;
that, in turn, surround an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

A silver annulus bearing a circle of raised beads, immediately inside the rim, enclosing the inscriptions:
(a) ‘THIRD MILLENNIUM FIRST DAY’; and
(b) ‘2000’;
that, in turn, surround a gold disc bearing:
(c) a satellite depiction of the Earth with:
(i) the area to the left of the dateline in gold representing 1 January 2000, featuring the city of Gisborne in New Zealand, as the first official Millennium city, with a dot and its name; and
(ii) the area to the right of the dateline pad‑printed to represent 31 December 1999; and
(d) the inscription ‘P’.

A circle, immediately inside the rim, enclosing the inscription:
‘AUSTRALIA 2000 1oz . 999 SILVER’;
that, in turn, surrounds a depiction of the Earth in conjunction with the Sun and the Moon. The Earth is depicted as a pad‑printed gold insert with the Moon in the foreground and a silhouette of the Sun pad‑printed in the background.
