These Regulations amend the Foreign Acquisitions and Takeovers Regulations 1989 to update certain exemption thresholds for certain US investors to A$100 million (indexed) and A$200 million for certain foreign offshore takeovers where the target company has less than A$200 million of assets in Australia and more than 50% of its total assets overseas.

1              Name of Regulations

                These Regulations are the Foreign Acquisitions and Takeovers Amendment Regulations 2006 (No. 3).

2              Commencement

                These Regulations commence on the day after they are registered.

3              Amendment of Foreign Acquisitions and Takeovers Regulations 1989

                Schedule 1 amends the Foreign Acquisitions and Takeovers Regulations 1989.
