This instrument directs that non-lapsing appropriation from prior years totalling $1,053,000 provided to the Department of Health and Ageing be transferred to non lapsing appropriation from prior years for Medicare Australia.

General Comments: This Direction was made under section 32 of the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997. Despite the repeal and substitution of the section made by Schedule 1, item 9 of the Financial Framework Legislation Amendment Act (No. 1) 2007 (Act No. 166 of 2007) C2007A00166, section 32 of the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997 (as in force immediately before the commencement of that item) continues to apply after that commencement in relation to a change in function that occurred before that commencement (see Schedule 1, item 17 of the Financial Framework Legislation Amendment Act (No. 1) 2007 (Act No. 166 of 2007) C2007A00166).

DIRECTION UNDER SECTION 32, FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACT 1997

Whereas:

On 6 October 2005 as per regulations made under the Medicare Australia Act 1973, the aged care payment function previously held by the Department of Health and Ageing was transferred to Medicare Australia.

I, Beverley Anne Hazell, Division Manager, Financial Reporting and Cash Management Division, Department of Finance and Administration, Delegate of the Minister for Finance and Administration under the Financial Management and Accountability Act 1997 ('the FMA Act'), issue the following direction under s.32 of the FMA Act:

That the moneys listed in column 4 of the following table for the items listed in column 1, be transferred from the 'old agency' listed in column 2 to the 'new agency' listed in column 3.
