I, PHILIP MICHAEL JEFFERY, Governor‑General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council and under subsection 8 (2) of the Census and Statistics Act 1905, appoint 8 August 2006 as the Census day for 2006.
