Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986

Determination of Non-warlike service

(OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH)

I, Danna Vale, Minister for Veterans' Affairs for and on behalf of the Minister for Defence:

 

a. revoke the determination made by the Minister for Veterans' Affairs for and on behalf of the Minister for Defence date 29 June 2000 in relation to OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH, and

 

b. determine that service rendered as a member of the ADF serving with the US element of the coalition force operation to patrol the Iraq No-Fly-Zones on OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH, in the Area of Operations specified

below during the period 29 September 1999 to 12 January 2003 is non-warlike

service for the purposes of subsection 5C(1) of the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986.

•     The area of operations comprises Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
