Determination of Non-warlike Service

OPERATION SPIRE

 

 

I, De-Anne Kelly, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, for the Minister for Defence:

 

a.                       revoke the determination made under subsection 5C(1) of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 (the Act) on 3 August 2004 in relation to Operation SPIRE; and

b.                       determine that:

(i)                      service rendered as a member of the Australian Defence Force assigned for service on Operation SPIRE on or after 20 May 2004 in the area of operations specified in subparagraph (ii) is non-warlike service for the purposes of the definition of “non-warlike service” in subsection 5C(1) of the Act; and

(ii)                    the area of operations comprises East Timor and the territorial sea of East Timor.
