This Determination specifies that service rendered by a member of the Australian Defence Force as a member of a specified Unit during the period 25/06/1965 to 31/08/1968 in North East Thailand (including Ubon) is warlike service for the purposes of the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986.

Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986

 

Determination of Warlike Service

 

 

I, De-Anne Kelly, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, for the Minister for Defence:

 

a.                      revoke the Determination made under subsection 5C(1) of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 (the Act) on 4 January 2001 in relation to defence service in North East Thailand (including Ubon) during the period from and including 25 June 1965 to and including 31 August 1968; and

b.                      determine that:

(i).          the area of operations comprises North East Thailand (including Ubon); and

(ii).         service rendered as a member of the Australian Defence Force while part of a unit specified in the Schedule below, during the period from and including 25 June 1965 to and including 31 August 1968 in the area of operations, is warlike service for the purposes of the definition of “warlike service” in subsection 5C(1) of the Act.

c.                      This Determination is taken to have commenced on 1 January 2001.
