Notice under section 65E(1)

 

Consumer Protection Notice No 4 of 2005

 

AMENDMENT TO CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY STANDARD:  SUNGLASSES AND FASHION SPECTACLES

 

I, Chris Pearce, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer, pursuant to section 65E of the Trade Practices Act 1974, hereby amend the consumer product safety standard in respect of sunglasses and fashion spectacles declared by notice dated 10 September 2003 and published in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette No GN 37 of 17 September 2003 as follows:

 

In Division 1 of the Schedule under the heading “The standard does NOT apply to the following:”:

 

(i)                  replace the full stop at the end of the existing clause d) with a semi-colon; and

 

(ii)                insert a new clause e) as follows:

 

“e)  Glasses or goggles for special use, including medical shields especially designed for use        by vision impaired persons.”
