I, KEVIN JAMES ANDREWS, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, make this Notice under subsection 70(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety (Commonwealth Employment) Act 1991.

1              Name of Notice

                This Notice is the Occupational Health and Safety (Commonwealth Employment) (Code of Practice) Notice 2005 (No. 1).

2              Commencement

                This Notice commences on the day after it is registered.

3              Revocation

                I revoke the current Approved Code of Practice on Noise, which adopts the National Code of Practice for Noise Management and Protection of Hearing at Work [NOHSC: 2009 (2000)].

4              Approval

                I approve the new Code of Practice on Noise, which adopts the National Code of Practice for Noise Management and Protection of Hearing at Work [NOHSC: 2009 (2004)].

5              Application

                Pursuant to paragraph 70(4)(a) of the Occupational Health and Safety (Commonwealth Employment) Act 1991 I express that the code of practice approved in clause 4 is to apply generally.
