AREA CLOSURES
The Australian Fisheries Management Authority makes the following Direction under section 17(5A) of the Fisheries Management Act 1991 and section 23(1) of the Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery Management Plan 2002.

Citation
1. This Direction may be cited as BSCZSF 01.
Commencement
2. This Direction commences on 1 May 2005.
Application
3. This Direction applies to a holder of statutory fishing rights in the Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery, and to a person acting on behalf of the holder, when fishing in the area of the Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery.
Period of Application
4. This Direction applies for a period beginning on the date this Direction commences and ending on 20 December 2005.
Interpretation
5.1 In this Direction:
“boat” means a boat that is nominated on a boat statutory fishing right for the BSCZSF.
5.2 A term used in this Direction that is defined for the purposes of the Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery Management Plan 2002 has the same meaning in this Direction as it has in that plan.
[Notes: 1. Terms defined in the Fisheries Management Act 1991 have the same meanings in this Direction.
2. Terms defined in the Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery Management Plan 2002 include “Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery” and “area of the fishery”. ]
5.3 This Direction is to be read consistently with other Directions made under the Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery Management Plan 2002.
5.4 The origin of geographical coordinates used in this Direction is the Geodetic Datum of Australia 1994 (GDA94).
Prohibition on fishing
6 Fishing in the area described in Schedule 1 is prohibited for the period of this Direction.
SCHEDULE 1
That part of the fishery within the area bounded by a line:
a) beginning at the parallel of latitude 39 degrees 37.5 minutes south and meridian of longitude 148 degrees 30 minutes east; and
b) running:
i) from there south along that meridian of longitude to its intersection with the parallel of latitude 39 degrees 56 minutes south; and
ii) from there west along that parallel to its intersection with the outer limit of the coastal waters of Flinders Island;
iii) from there generally north westerly, south westerly and north westerly along that outer limit until its intersection with the parallel of latitude 39 degrees 37.5 minutes south; and
iv) from there east along that parallel to the point of commencement.
