DETERMINATION

 

I, RONALD STANLEY COOPER, General Manager, Safety Regulation and Standards Division, Civil Aviation Authority, a delegate of the Authority, pursuant to subregulation 172 (2A) of the Civil Aviation Regulations, hereby determine that, for the purposes of subregulation 172 (2), the applicable distances are as set out in the Schedule.

The aircraft must carry a radio and use it on MTAP, CTAF and on area VHF, as required.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The helicopter must be operated at a speed that gives the pilot in command adequate opportunity to observe any obstructions or other air traffic in time to avoid a collision.

 

If the helicopter is less that 10 miles from an aerodrome with an approved instrument approach procedure:

(a)  the flight must be conducted in accordance with the requirements relating to reporting, broadcasting and maintaining a listening watch, as set out in AlP;

(b)  a separation of at least 500 ft vertically must be maintained from any aircraft that is less than 10 miles from the aerodrome and conducting an I.F.R. operation.

 

No clearance from cloud below the balloon is required if the top of the cloud is at or below 500 ft above ground or water and the balloon is at least 10 miles from an aerodrome for which an instrument approach procedure is prescribed.
