I, PHILIP MICHAEL JEFFERY, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Criminal Code Act 1995.

1              Name of Regulations

                These Regulations are the Criminal Code Amendment Regulations 2004 (No. 6).

2              Commencement

                These Regulations commence on the date of their notification in the Gazette.

3              Amendment of Criminal Code Regulations 2002

                Schedule 1 amends the Criminal Code Regulations 2002.

4E           Terrorist organisations — Armed Islamic Group

         (1)   For paragraph (b) of the definition of terrorist organisation in subsection 102.1 (1) of the Code, the organisation known as Armed Islamic Group is specified.

         (2)   For subregulation (1), Armed Islamic Group is also known by the following names:

                (a)    Al Jamm’ah Al-Islamiah Al-Musallah;

               (b)    GIA;

                (c)    Groupement Islamique Armé;

               (d)    Groupe Islamique Armé.

1.       These Regulations amend Statutory Rules 2002 No. 67, as amended by 2002 Nos. 248, 249, 250, 269, 270, 271 and 272; 2003 Nos. 30, 43, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 184 and 285; 2004 Nos. 83, 283, 284, 311 and 312.
