1              Name of Regulations

                These Regulations are the Air Force Amendment Regulations 2001 (No. 2).

2              Commencement

                These Regulations commence on gazettal.

3              Amendment of Air Force Regulations 1927

                Schedule 1 amends the Air Force Regulations 1927.

4              Transitional

                Regulations 73 and 89 of the Air Force Regulations 1927, as in force immediately before the commencement of these Regulations, continue to apply to appointments made before the commencement of these Regulations.

47            Extension and conversion of appointments

         (1)   An officer appointed for a specified period of service may, on or before the expiration of that period, volunteer for:

                (a)    a further period of service; or

               (b)    permanent appointment.

         (2)   If an officer mentioned in subregulation (1) volunteers for a further period of service or permanent appointment, the Chief of Air Force may, by instrument in writing:

                (a)    extend the appointment for a further specified period of service; or

               (b)    convert the appointment to a permanent appointment accordingly.

         (3)   An officer on a permanent appointment may volunteer to convert the appointment to an appointment for a specified period.

         (4)   If an officer on a permanent appointment volunteers to convert the appointment to an appointment for a specified period, the Chief of Air Force may, by instrument in writing, convert the appointment accordingly.

108BA    Conversion of enlistment to fixed period

         (1)   An airman who is enlisted in the Air Force until attaining retiring age may volunteer to convert the enlistment to enlistment for a fixed period.

         (2)   If the offer is accepted, the enlistment is converted accordingly, by force of this subregulation.
