I, WILLIAM PATRICK DEANE, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Commonwealth Places (Application of Laws) Act 1970.

1       Name of regulations

                These regulations are the Commonwealth Places (Application of Laws) Regulations 1998.

2       Commencement

                These regulations commence on gazettal.

3       Liquor Act 1982 (NSW) not to apply to airport sites

                The Liquor Act 1982 of New South Wales does not apply to a place that:

                (a)    is subject to a lease that authorises the sale of liquor; and

               (b)    is acquired by the Commonwealth for the construction of a civil airport; and

                (c)    is not subject to an airport lease under the Airports Act 1996 or the Airports (Transitional) Act 1996.

4       Sunsetting

                Regulation 3 ceases to be in force on 28 February 2001.
