Air Force Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Air Force Act 1923.

1.   Commencement

1.1    Regulations 3 and 4 commence on the same day as Schedule 3 of the Defence Legislation Amendment Act (No. 1) 1997.

[NOTE: The remainder of these Regulations commence on gazettal: see Acts Interpretation Act 1901, s. 48.]


2.   Amendment

2.1   The Air Force Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

3.   New regulation 67

3.1   After regulation 66, insert:

Delegation of power to make limited-tenure promotions

           “67.   The Governor-General may delegate to the Chief of the Defence Force and the Chief of the Air Force any of his powers under regulation 66 to promote officers of the Air Force.”.

4.   Regulation 73 (Resignation of officers)

4.1   Paragraph 73 (2) (ba):

Omit “Group Captain”, substitute “Squadron Leader”.

5.   Further amendments (change of title—Chief of the Air Staff)

5.1   From the following provisions omit “Chief of the Air Staff”, substitute “Chief of Air Force”:

             (a)   provisions in which the expression to be omitted occurs only once:

[NOTE:   The headings to regulations 8, 52 and 75 are taken to be altered by the substitution of “Chief of Air Force” for “Chief of the Air Staff”.]
