REGULATIONS UNDER THE ROYAL AUSTRALIAN AIR FORCE VETERANS’ RESIDENCES ACT 1953.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Royal Australian Air Force Veterans’ Residences Act 1953.

Royal Australian Air Force Veterans’ Residences Regulations.

Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Royal Australian Air Force Veterans’ Residences Regulations.

Definitions.

2. In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears—

“member” means a member of the Trust;

“the Act” means the Royal Australian Air Force Veterans’ Residences Act 1953;

“the Chairman” means the member appointed as the Chairman of the Trust under the next succeeding regulation but does not include a person appointed under the Act to be the deputy of the member who has been appointed as the Chairman;

“the Trust” means the Royal Australian Air Force Veterans’ Residences Trust established under the Act.

Appointment of Chairman.

3.—(1.) The Trust shall appoint one of its members to be the Chairman of the Trust.

(2.) The member so appointed holds office as the Chairman until his appointment is terminated by the Trust.

Presiding at meetings.

4.—(1.) The Chairman shall preside at all meetings of the Trust at which he is present.

(2.) In the event of the absence of the Chairman from a meeting, the members present shall appoint one of their number to preside at that meeting.

Convening of meetings.

5.—(1.) Subject to this regulation, meetings of the Trust shall be held at such times and places within the Commonwealth as the Chairman from time to time determines.

(2.) A meeting of the Trust for the purpose of appointing a Chairman may be hold at such time and place as are agreed upon by a majority of the members.

(3.) The Chairman shall, on receipt of a written request signed by the other members of the Trust, call a meeting of the Trust.

Quorum.

6. At a meeting of the Trust, two members constitute a quorum.

Voting.

7.—(1.) At a meeting of the Trust, each member of the Trust has one vote and, subject to this regulation, all questions shall be decided by a majority of votes of the members present.

(2.) The Chairman or member presiding at the meeting has a deliberative vote only.

(3.) Where, at a meeting of the Trust, there is an equality of votes on a question, the question shall be deemed to have been decided in the negative.

Record of proceedings.

8. The Trust shall keep a record of all business transacted at its meetings.
