(Amendment)

I. THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918.

1. Amendment

1.1 The Electoral and Referendum Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

2. Regulation 5 (Interpretation)

2.1 Subregulation 5(1) (definition of “Courier service”):

Omit the definition.

2.2 Subregulation 5 (2):

Omit “the Schedule”, substitute “Schedule 1”.

3. New regulations 7, 8 and 9

Insert after regulation 6:

Provision of microfiche to prescribed authority under subsection 91 (10) of the Act

“7. The provision of:

(a) a microfiche of a Roll: or

(b) information referred to in subsection 91 (9) of the Act;

to a prescribed authority is authorised for the purposes of subsection 91 (10) of the Act.

Prescribed authorities for the purposes of paragraph 91 (11) (a) of the Act

“8. The Departments specified in Part 1 of Schedule 2 are specified for the purposes of paragraph 91 (11) (a) of the Act.

Prescribed authorities for the purposes of paragraph 91 (11) (b) of the Act

“9. The authorities of the Commonwealth specified in Part 2 of Schedule 2 are specified for the purposes of paragraph 91 (11) (b) of the Act.”.
