Electoral and Referendum Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918.

After regulation 39 of the Electoral and Referendum Regulations the following regulation is inserted:

Ballot-paper—House of Representatives

“39a. Form F in the Schedule to the Act is altered:

(a) by omitting:

Ballot-paper

COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA

[State/Territory] of [here insert name of State or Territory].” and substituting:

“BALLOT PAPER

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

[here insert name of State or Territory as appropriate]”;

(b) by omitting:

“Election of one Member of the House of Representatives.

Directions.Mark your vote on this ballot-paper by placing the numbers [here insert “1 and 2” where there are two candidates, “1, 2 and 3” where there are three candidates, “1, 2, 3 and 4” where there are four candidates, and so on as the case requires] in the squares respectively opposite the names of the candidates so as to indicate the order of your preference for them.”;

and substituting:

“Number the boxes from 1 to (here insert number of candidates) in the order of your choice”; and

(c) by omitting:

“CANDIDATES
