Protection of the Sea (Prevention of Pollution from Ships) (Orders) Regulations

I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Protection of the Sea (Prevention of Pollution from Ships) Act 1983.

Citation

               1.   These Regulations may be cited as the Protection of the Sea (Prevention of Pollution from Ships) (Orders) Regulations.

Commencement

               2.   These Regulations commence on 10 January 1995.

Interpretation

               3.   In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears:

“Act” means the Protection of the Sea (Prevention of Pollution from Ships) Act 1983.

Offences

               4.   A person must not contravene a provision of an order made under subsection 34 (1) of the Act that is expressed to be a penal provision.

Penalty:

             (a)   20 penalty units; or

             (b)   in the case of a body corporate—50 penalty units.
