PROHIBITIONS WITHIN KAKADU NATIONAL PARK - NOVEMBER 2021 (1)
I, Jody Swirepik, Acting Director of National Parks, acting pursuant to the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Regulations 2000 (Regulations) having taken into account and being satisfied that prohibiting, entering or remaining in certain areas and prohibiting the use of certain roads and tracks in the Kakadu National Park is necessary for Aboriginal cultural purposes, PROHIBIT pursuant to subregulations 12.23(3), 12.42(1) and 12.55(4) of the Regulations, all persons, at all times this prohibition is in effect:
a. entering or remaining in the:
· Merl Campground;
· East Alligator River Boat Ramp (upstream), known also as the Arnhem Highway Boat Ramp;
· East Alligator River Boat Ramp (downstream);
· Cahills Crossings Viewing Platform; and
b. using any of the following roads and tracks for all vehicles, walking and riding:
· Ubirr Road, from the Oenpelli Road turn-off;
· the Bardedjilidji walk;
· the Badbong Wodjmeng sandstone river walk; and
· the Manngarre rainforest walk.
Note: Certain classes of person will be exempt from this prohibition by operation of subregulations 12.06(1) and 12.23(2) of the Regulations.
This prohibition commences on the later of 00:00AM CEST 26 November 2021 or the date and at the time on which this prohibition takes effect pursuant to law, and ends at 11:59PM CEST on 1 December 2021.
