Electricity (Licensing and Registration) Regulations 1986

Regulations No. 4 of 1986

I,  Peter Michael Ilyk,  Deputy Administrator of Norfolk Island, acting in accordance with the advice of the Executive Council of Norfolk Island, hereby make the following Regulations under the Electricity (Licensing and Registration) Act 1985.

Short title

      1.         These Regulations may be cited as the Electricity (Licensing and Registration) Regulations 1986.

Interpretation

      2.         In these Regulations —

(a)        “Act” means the Electricity (Licensing and Registration) Act 1985; and

(b)        for the purposes of these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears, words, expressions and provisions contained in these regulations have the same interpretation, application and effect as they have under the Act.

Qualifications for registration as electrical mechanic

      3.         For the purposes of section 8 of the Act, a person has the prescribed qualifications where the person holds a current licence or certificate set out in Column 2 issued in the place set out in Column 1 of Schedule 1.

Fees

      4.         The fees to be paid for matters under the Act and these regulations are set out in Schedule 2.

Copy of licence or certificate of registration

      5.         (1)        Where a licence or certificate of registration is lost, defaced or destroyed, the holder of the licence or registered electrical mechanic may apply to the Registrar for a duplicate licence or certificate.

 

                  (2)        On receipt of an application, accompanied by the prescribed fee, the Registrar shall issue a duplicate licence or certificate of registration.

Particulars of register

      6.         For the purposes of subsection 16(2) of the Act, the Registrar shall record in the register particulars —

                  (a)        in relation to an electrical contractor, of —

                              (i)   the name and address;

                              (ii)  the date and issue of the licence, renewal of licence or duplicate licence;

                              (iii) grounds for refusal of the issue of a licence; and

                              (iv) cancellation or suspension of a licence; and

                  (b)        in relation to a registered electrical mechanic, of —

                              (i)   the name and address;

                              (ii)  the qualifications for registration;

                  (iii) the date and issue of the certificate of registration, renewal of certificate or duplicate certificate;

                              (iv) grounds for refusal of the issue of a certificate of registration; and

                              (v)  cancellation or suspension of a certificate of registration.
