For distinguished service as Chief of Staff, Joint Staff, Japanese Self Defense Forces, and Chief of Staff, Japanese Air Self Defense Force, and in recognition of his efforts to enhance Australia’s defence engagement with Japan.

For distinguished service as Chief of Staff, Joint Staff, Japanese Self Defense Forces, and Chief of Staff, Japanese Air Self Defense Force, and in recognition of his efforts to enhance Australia’s defence engagement with Japan.

General Iwasaki’s direct support for enhanced defence engagement between Australia and Japan has contributed directly to establishing precedents of operational cooperation which have led to the increasing sophistication in the cooperation between the Australian Defence Force and Japanese Self Defense Forces.  These precedents have established a firm foundation for Australia and Japan to develop this practical cooperation further and enhance our efforts in the service of regional stability and peace.
