A Bill for an Act to amend the Public Service Act 1999, and for related purposes
The Parliament of Australia enacts:
1 Short title
This Act may be cited as the Public Service Amendment (Employment for all of us) Act 2014.
2 Commencement
This Act commences on the day after this Act receives the Royal Assent.
3 Schedule(s)
Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.
Schedule 1—Amendments
Public Service Act 1999
1 Section 7
Insert:
disability has the same meaning as in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
2 After subsection 11A(2)
Insert:
Direction to ensure participation of persons with a disability or who come from a non‑English speaking background
(2A) For the purpose of the APS Employment Principle mentioned in paragraph 10A(1)(g), the Commissioner must issue a direction in writing that requires the total number, existing on 1 July 2014, of:
(a) APS employees with a disability; and
(b) APS employees who come from a non‑English speaking background;
to be doubled by 1 July 2019.
3 At the end of subsection 11A(3)
Add “or (2A)”.
