1              Name of regulations [see Note 1]

                These regulations are the Migration Agents Registration Application Charge Regulations 1998.

2              Commencement

                These regulations commence on 21 March 1998.

3              Amount of charge

         (1)   For section 6 of the Migration Agents Registration Application Charge Act 1997, the amount of charge payable is:

                (a)    for an individual who intends, as disclosed in the registration application, to give immigration assistance for which a fee is to be charged:

                          (i)    for an application for registration made before
21 March 1999 — $1,000; or

                         (ii)    for an application for registration made on or after 21 March 1999 — $1,010; or

                         (iii)    for an application for repeat registration made on or after 21 March 1999 — $810; or

               (b)    for an individual who does not intend, as disclosed in the registration application, to give immigration assistance for which a fee is to be charged:

                          (i)    for an application for registration made before
21 March 1999 — $150; or

                         (ii)    for an application for registration made on or after 21 March 1999 — $150; or

                         (iii)    for an application for repeat registration made on or after 21 March 1999 — $100.

         (2)   For subparagraphs (1) (a) (iii) and (b) (iii), an applicant applies for repeat registration if he or she has been registered at some time in the 12 months before making the application.
