A Bill for an Act to amend the States Grants (Primary and Secondary Education Assistance) Act 2000, and for related purposes
The Parliament of Australia enacts:
1 Short title This Act may be cited as the States Grants (Primary and Secondary Education Assistance) Amendment Act 2001.
2 Commencement (1) Subject to this section, this Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
(2) If the Innovation and Education Legislation Amendment Act 2001 commences after the commencement of section 1 of this Act:
(a) items 5 and 6 of Schedule 1 to this Act commence immediately after the commencement of the Innovation and Education Legislation Amendment Act 2001; and
(b) Part 2 of Schedule 1 to this Act does not commence at all.
(3) If the Innovation and Education Legislation Amendment Act 2001 has commenced before the commencement of section 1 of this Act, Part 1 of Schedule 1 to this Act does not commence at all.
(4) If the Innovation and Education Legislation Amendment Act 2001 commences at the same time as section 1 of this Act:
(a) Part 2 of Schedule 2 to this Act commences immediately after the commencement of the Innovation and Education Legislation Amendment Act 2001; and
(b) Part 1 of Schedule 1 to this Act does not commence at all.
3 Schedule(s) Subject to section 2, each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.
Schedule 1--Increases in grants for targeted assistance Part 1--Amendments if the Innovation and Education Legislation Amendment Act 2001 commences after section 1 of this Act
Note: If the Innovation and Education Legislation Amendment Act 2001 has commenced at or before the commencement of section 1 of this Act, this Part does not come into operation. See subsections 2(3) and (4).
