STATES GRANTS (TECHNICAL AND FURTHER EDUCATION ASSISTANCE) AMENDMENT ACT 1977

An Act to amend the States Grants (Technical and Further Education) Act 1974 and the States Grants (Technical and Further Education Assistance) Act 1976, and for related purposes.

BE IT ENACTED by the Queen, and the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—

PART I—PRELIMINARY

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the States Grants (Technical and Further Education Assistance) Amendment Act 1977.

Commencement.

2. This Act shall come into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

PART II—AMENDMENTS OF THE STATES GRANTS (TECHNICAL AND FURTHER EDUCATION) ACT 1974

Principal Act.

3. The States Grants (Technical and Further Education) Act 1974 is in this Part referred to as the Principal Act.

Grants for student residence building projects.

4. Section 10 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from sub-section (3) the figures “$4,360,000” and substituting the figures “$4,398,000”.

Schedules.

5. The Schedules to the Principal Act are repealed and the following Schedules substituted:—

Determinations under Principal Act.

6. A determination made under sub-section 16(1) or 24(1), (2), (3) or (3a) of the Principal Act and in force immediately before the commencement of this Act shall, by force of this section, cease to have effect upon the commencement of this Act, but this section shall not be taken to affect the previous operation of the determination.

Payments made before Royal Assent.

7. Payments made to a State under the Principal Act before the date on which this Act receives the Royal Assent shall be deemed to have been made for the purposes of the Principal Act as amended by this Act.
