REGULATIONS UNDER THE PIG SLAUGHTER LEVY ACT 1971.*
WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1.) of section 6 of the Pig Slaughter Levy Act 1971 that the rate of the levy imposed by that Act is such amount (not exceeding Ten cents) in respect of each pig slaughtered as is prescribed:
AND WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (2.) of that section that before making any regulations for the purposes of sub-regulation (1.) of that section, the Governor-General shall take into consideration any recommendation with respect to the rate of the levy made to the Minister by the Pig Industry Research Committee, and regulations shall not be made prescribing a rate higher than the rate last recommended by that Committee to the Minister:
AND WHEREAS the Pig Industry Research Committee has recommended to the Minister that the rate of the levy should be Five cents in respect of each pig slaughtered:
NOW THEREFORE I. THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council and after taking into consideration the recommendation made to the Minister by the Pig Industry Research Committee hereby make the following Regulations under the Pig Slaughter Levy Act 1971.

PIG SLAUGHTER LEVY REGULATIONS
Citation.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Pig Slaughter Levy Regulations.
Commencement.
2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the first day of September, 1971.
Prescribed amount for each pig slaughtered.
3. For the purposes of sub-section (1.) of section 6 of the Pig Slaughter Levy Act 1971, the amount in respect of each pig slaughtered is Five cents.
