REGULATIONS UNDER THE HIGH COMMISSIONER (UNITED KINGDOM) ACT 1909-1966.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the High Commissioner (United Kingdom) Act 1909-1966.

Amendment of the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations

Fourth Schedule.

1. The Fourth Schedule to the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations is repealed and the following Schedule is inserted in its stead:

Supplementary Allowance.

2.—(1.) Where, during any period that commenced on or after the first day of January, 1970, and ended before the commencement of these Regulations, an officer or employee occupied, or performed the duties of, an office to which this sub-regulation applies, the officer or employee shall, by force of this sub-regulation, be paid an allowance of such an amount as would result in the total remuneration of the officer or employee in respect of that period being not less than the total remuneration that would have been payable to the officer or employee in respect of that period if, during that period—

(a) the classification of that office had been a scale of rates equal to the scale of rates specified in column 2 of the Fourth Schedule to the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations, as in force at the commencement of these Regulations, opposite to that office in column 1 of that Schedule; and

(b) that scale of rates had been specified in column 2 of the Fourth Schedule to the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations opposite to that office in column 1 of that Schedule.

(2.) The offices to which the last preceding sub-regulation applies are

Steno-secretary to the High Commissioner

Stenographer Grade 1

Stenographer Grade 2

Stenographer Grade 3

Supervisor (Typing)

Typist

Transcription Typist

(3.) Where, during any period that commenced on or after the first day of April, 1970, and ended before the commencement of these Regulations, an officer or employee occupied, or performed the duties of, an office set out in column 1 of the Fourth Schedule to the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations as in force at the commencement of these Regulations (not being an office to which sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation applies), the officer or employee shall, by force of his sub-regulation, be paid an allowance of such an amount as would result in the total remuneration of the officer or employee in respect of that period being not less than the total remuneration that would have been payable to the officer or employee in respect of that period if, during that period

(a) the classification of that office had been a rate or a scale of rates equal to the rate or scale of rates, as the case may be, specified in column 2 of the Fourth Schedule to the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations, as in force at the commencement of these Regulations, opposite to that office in column 1 of that Schedule; and

(b) that rate or that scale of rates had been specified in column 2 of the Fourth Schedule to the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations opposite to that office in column 1 of that Schedule.
