REGULATIONS UNDER THE MEAT CHICKEN LEVY COLLECTION ACT 1969.*
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Meat Chicken Levy Collection Act 1969.

MEAT CHICKEN LEVY COLLECTION REGULATIONS
Citation.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Meat Chicken Levy Collection Regulations.
Interpretation.
2.—(1.) In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears—
“authorized agent” means a person appointed in pursuance of regulation 6 of these Regulations to be an authorized agent;
“month” means a month of the year.
(2.) In these Regulations, a reference to a form by number shall be read as a reference to the form so numbered in the Schedule to these Regulations.
Manner of payment of levy, &c.
3. The payment of levy or other amounts payable to the Commonwealth under the Meat Chicken Levy Collection Act 1969 with respect to meat chickens hatched at a hatchery shall be made to the Collector of Public Moneys, Department of Primary Industry at Canberra.
Returns.
4.—(1.) A person who, at any time during a month to which this regulation applies, has carried on business as the proprietor of a hatchery shall, before the expiration of two months after the last day of that first-mentioned month, furnish to the Secretary to the Department of Primary Industry at Canberra a return, in accordance with Form 1, with respect to meat chickens hatched at the hatchery during that first-mentioned month.
(2.) In this regulation, “month to which this regulation applies” means the month of July in the year One thousand nine hundred and sixty-nine, or any subsequent month.
Proper records to be kept.
5. A person who, at any time during a month, is carrying on business as the proprietor of a hatchery shall keep, or cause to be kept, proper records showing

the commencement of these Regulations, in respect of that part of the month that occurs after the commencement of these Regulations—
(a) the number of eggs set in incubators at the hatchery;
(b) the number of meat chickens hatched at the hatchery;
(c) the number of chickens, other than meat chickens, hatched at the hatchery;
(d) the number of the meat chickens hatched at the hatchery that died, or were destroyed, at the hatchery within forty-eight hours after being hatched;
(e) the number of chickens hatched at the hatchery that were sold before they were one month old, the date of each sale and the name and address of each purchaser; and
(f) the number of the chickens hatched at the hatchery that were disposed of, other than by sale, before they were one month old, and the method of disposal.
Penalty: Two hundred dollars.
Authorized agents.
6.—(1.) The proprietor of a hatchery may appoint a person to be his authorized agent for the purpose of executing, from time to time, on his behalf the declaration set out in Form 1.
(2.) The appointment of an authorized agent by the proprietor of a hatchery—
(a) shall be in accordance with Form 2; and
(b) shall be lodged with the Secretary to the Department of Primary Industry at Canberra.
