REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1941.*
I, THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Government the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1941.

Amendment of the War Financial (Military Forces)
Regulations.†
Command and responsibility allowance.
1. Regulation 20 of the War Financial (Military Forces) Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (4.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—
“(4.) A member, while not entitled to an allowance under the provisions of sub-regulations (1.), (2.) or (3.) of this regulation, may be paid an allowance of £150 per annum (in Australian currency) in respect of any period—
(a) after the first day of November, 1943, during which he holds or held the rank of Lieutenant-General; or
(b) during which he holds the rank of Major-General, if the Minister is of the opinion that payment of the allowance is justified by the responsibility of the member’s appointment”.
Persons to whom dependants allowance payable and apportionment of allowance.
2. Regulation 36 of the War Financial (Military Forces) Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (13.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—
“(13.) Any payment of dependants allowance made to any person in pursuance of these Regulations shall, if that person has a claim for maintenance against the member who made the allotment in respect of which the dependants allowance is payable, or if a maintenance or affiliation order or an order for the payment of alimony has been made against the member in favour of that person, be deemed to be a payment made to that person on behalf of the member”.
