APPROPRIATION (NO. 2) 1939-40.


No. 27 of 1940.

An Act to grant and apply an additional sum out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund for the service of the year ending the thirtieth day of June One thousand nine hundred and forty and to appropriate such sum.

[Assented to 1st June, 1940.]

Preamble.

BE it enacted by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, for the purpose of appropriating the grant originated in the House of Representatives, as follows:—

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the Appropriation Act (No. 2) 1939–40.

Commencement.

2. This Act shall come into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

Issue and application of £9,000,000.

3.—(1.) The Treasurer may issue out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund and apply towards making good the supply hereby granted to His Majesty for the service of the year ending the thirtieth day of June One thousand nine hundred and forty the sum of Nine million pounds.

(2.) The amounts specified in the Schedule to this Act for the purposes and services of the Department of Defence may be issued and applied for the corresponding purposes and services of one or more or all of the Departments established in lieu of that Department.

Appropriation.

4. The said sum granted by this Act is appropriated for the purposes and services set forth in the Schedule to this Act or otherwise specified in this Act in relation to the financial year ending the thirtieth day of June One thousand nine hundred and forty.
