KAKADU NATIONAL PARK

PROHIBITION ON THE USE OF ROADS AND TRACKS WITHIN THE PARK

I, Jason Munday, Acting First Assistant Secretary, Parks Australia Division,

Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, acting pursuant to the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Regulations 2000 (Regulations) having taken into account and being satisfied that prohibiting access to and activities in certain areas in the Kakadu National Park (Park) is necessary for Aboriginal cultural purposes: PROHIBIT pursuant to subregulations 12.23A(3), 12.42(1) and 12.55(4) of the Regulations, all persons, at all times this prohibition is in effect:

 

  1. engaging in any activities in the Merl Campground; and

 

b.             using any of the following roads and tracks for all vehicles, walking and riding:

 

Note: Certain classes of person will be exempt from this prohibition by operation of subregulations 12.06(1) and 12.23(2) of the Regulations.

Prohibition Duration

This prohibition commences on the date and at the time, on which this prohibition takes effect pursuant to law or upon expiration of the prohibition instrument dated 23 April 2021, concerning the use of roads and tracks, and activities in the Park, whichever is later, and ends 11:59pm CEST on 13 June  2021.
