Registration of Dentists Act 1931

An Act to provide for the registration of dentists.
1. This Act may be cited as the Registration of Dentists Act 1931.
2. The Minister shall cause to be kept a Register to be called “The Register of Dentists”.
3. (1) A person shall be registered by the entering of his name together with any required particulars in the Register.
(2) Every such entry shall be signed by the Minister.
4. Any dentist registered or entitled to be registered under the law in force in any State or Territory of the Commonwealth or in New Zealand and whose name has not been removed from the Register of the State, Territory or New Zealand in which he is registered for fraud or any unprofessional conduct shall be entitled to apply to the Minister to be registered under this Act.
5. Every person registered under this Act shall pay to the Administration upon registration a fee of 3 fee units.
6. Any person who obtains registration under this Act by means of any false or fraudulent representation or by the production of any false certificate or testimonial shall be guilty of an offence.
Penalty: 20 penalty units.
7. Any person, other than a dentist registered under this Act, who performs for fee or reward any dental operation shall be guilty of an offence.
Penalty: 20 penalty units.
8. Nothing in this Act shall apply to any duly registered medical practitioner who in the ordinary course of his practice performs any dental operation.
