Notice under Section 315(1)(b)

 

I, Mark Butler, Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Water, give notice under section 315 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth), that the areas described in Schedules A, B and C were added to the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area in 2010, 2012 and 2013 respectively.

1.     DOVE RIVER – An area of 319 ha commencing at the intersection of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park boundary with an unnamed tributary of Carruthers Creek (approximate MGA point zone 55 415048mE 5392025mN), then directly to the intersection of Carruthers Creek with MGA northing 5390394mN (approximate MGA point 415071mE 5390394mN), then south easterly via Carruthers Creek to its intersection with an unnamed tributary (approximate MGA point 415353mE 5390013mN), then directly to MGA point 416451mE 5390967mN, then directly to the intersection of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park boundary with an unnamed tributary of Carruthers Creek (approximate MGA point 417489mE 5391258mN), then north westerly and westerly via the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park boundary to the commencement point.

2.     MERSEY VALLEY 1 – An area of 96 ha comprising the following land parcels within Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park; 1/240243, 1/240244, 1/240245, 1/240246, 1/240247 & 1/240248.

3.     MERSEY VALLEY 2 – An area of 12 ha comprising the following land parcel within Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park; 1/240242.

4.     BEECH CREEK – An area of 83 ha commencing at the intersection of a watershed line with MGA northing 5307333mN (approximate MGA point 444164mE 5307333mN), then via the following MGA points consecutively; 444142mE 5306496mN, 444691mE 5305722mN, 444793mE 5305618mN, 444956mE 5305490mN, then directly to the intersection of a watershed line with MGA northing 5305452mN (approximate MGA point 445061mE 5305452mN), then generally north westerly via the watershed line to the commencement point.

6.     COUNSEL RIVER – An area of 135 ha commencing at the intersection of the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park boundary with a watershed line at approximate MGA point 441351mE 5313631mN, then south easterly via the watershed line to its intersection with MGA northing 5312186mN (approximate MGA point 442145mE 5312186mN), then directly to MGA point 442177mE 5312194mN, then directly to the intersection of the Counsel River with MGA easting 442215mE (approximate MGA point 442215mE 5312199mN), then easterly via the Counsel River to its intersection with Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park boundary (approximate MGA point 444012mE 5312455mN), then north westerly via the national park boundary to the commencement point.

8.     TIGER RANGE – An area of 1,123 ha commencing at the intersection of the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park boundary with a watershed line (approximate MGA point 452929mE 5278048mN), then southerly via the watershed line to its intersection with MGA northing 5272154mN (approximate MGA point 451145mE 5272154mN), then via the following MGA points consecutively; 451100mE 5272110mN, 451040mE 5272038mN, 451013mE 5271965mN, 450978mE 5271897mN, 450939mE 5271884mN, 450896mE 5271889mN, 450817mE 5271925mN, 450750mE 5271952mN, then directly to the intersection of an unnamed tributary of Myrtle Creek with MGA northing 5271982mN (approximate MGA point 450711mE 5271982mN), then westerly via the unnamed tributary to its intersection with Myrtle Creek (approximate MGA point 450026mE 5272135mN), then southerly via Myrtle Creek to its intersection with the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park boundary (approximate MGA point 449795mE 5270933mN), then southerly, northerly and westerly via the national park boundary to the commencement point.

9.     NELSON FALLS – An area of 325 ha commencing at the intersection of the centreline of the Lyell Hwy with the boundary of the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park (approximate MGA point 395231mE 5337924mN), then northerly, easterly and southerly via the national park boundary to its intersection with the centreline of the Lyell Hwy (approximate MGA point 395915mE 5337689mN), then westerly via the centreline of the Lyell Hwy to the commencement point.

10.     HARTZ HOLE – An area of 1,212 ha commencing at the intersection of Pattersons Creek with a line offset by 220m to the east of the middle thread of the Picton River (approximate MGA point 477333mE 5207707mN), then southerly via the offset line to its intersection with an unnamed tributary of the Picton River (approximate MGA point 476970mE 5203905mN), then south easterly and northerly via that tributary to its intersection with MGA northing 5204774mN (approximate MGA point 479913mE 5204774mN), then directly to the intersection of an unnamed tributary of Pattersons Creek with MGA northing 5204901mN (approximate MGA point 479911mE 5204901mN), then northerly via the unnamed tributary to its intersection with Pattersons Creek (approximate MGA point480528mE 5207514mN), then westerly via Pattersons Creek to the commencement point.

11.     SOUTHEAST OF COCKLE CREEK – An area of 2,174 ha commencing at the intersection of the Southwest National Park boundary  (as at 2010) with MGA easting 484862mE (approximate MGA point 484862mE 5173292mN), then directly to MGA point 488608mE 5171363mN, then directly to the intersection of the Southwest National Park boundary with MGA easting 490182mE (approximate MGA point 490182mE 5170182mN), then north easterly, northerly and south westerly via the boundary of the Southwest National Park to the commencement point. 12.     LITTLE FLORENTINE RIVER – An area of 819 ha commencing at the intersection of the Southwest National Park boundary  (as at 2010) with the 800m ASL (approximate MGA point 452717mE 5263642mN), then north easterly via the 800m ASL to its intersection with an unnamed tributary of the Little Florentine River (approximate MGA point 455432mE 5265036mN), then north westerly via the unnamed tributary to its intersection with the Southwest National Park boundary (as at 2010) (approximate MGA point 543143mE 5268453mN), then generally southerly via the national park boundary to the commencement point.

13.     STYX RIVER – An area of 1,017 ha commencing at the intersection of the Southwest National Park boundary with Mueller Road (approximate MGA point 458683mE 5260755mN), then westerly via Mueller Road to its intersection with MGA easting 458000mE (approximate MGA point 458000mE 5260573mN), then south easterly via the ridgeline between the Weld River and Styx River catchment areas to its intersection with MGA northing 5257125mN (approximate MGA point 459274mE 5257125mN), then via the following MGA points consecutively; 459346mE 5256992mN, 459444mE 5256776mN, 459502mE 5256622mN, 459560mE 5256559mN, 459611mE 5256527mN, then directly to the intersection of the Charon River with an unnamed tributary (approximate MGA point 459686mE 5256510mN), then south easterly via the unnamed tributary to its intersection with MGA easting 461612mE (approximate MGA point 461612mE 5254957mN), then directly to the intersection of the 600m ASL with MGA easting 461664mE (approximate MGA point 461664mE 5254918mN), then easterly and northerly via the 600m ASL to its intersection with the Southwest National Park boundary (approximate MGA point 462702mE 5255632mN), then generally north westerly via the national park boundary to the commencement point.

14.     BLAKES OPENING – An area of 3,715 ha commencing at the intersection of the Southwest National Park boundary with the 600m ASL (approximate MGA point 470200mE 5231127mN), then north easterly via that ASL to its intersection with an unnamed tributary of Manuka Creek (approximate MGA point 467908mE 5233797mN), then south westerly via the unnamed tributary to its intersection with Manuka Creek (approximate MGA point 465404mE 5232333mN), then southerly via Manuka Creek to its intersection with the southern bank of the Huon River (approximate MGA point 466241mE 5228401mN), then generally westerly via the southern bank to its intersection with Tentfly Creek (approximate MGA point 464016mE 5227966mN), then southeasterly via Tentfly Creek to its intersection with MGA northing 5227132mN (approximate MGA point 464508mE 5227132mN), then via the following MGA points consecutively; 464631mE 5226982mN, 464669mE 5226914mN, 464686mE 5226856mN, 464696mE 5226811mN, 464713mE 5226758mN, 464761mE 5226691mN, 464785mE 5226668mN, 464815mE 5226652mN, 464834mE 5226648mN, 464851mE 5226647mN, 464873mE 5226645mN, then southeasterly via the Yogo Spur ridgeline between the Harrisons Creek and Blackslate Creek to Reflection Creek catchment area to its intersection with the 650mASL (approximate MGA point 465783mE 5224008mN), then generally easterly via the 650m ASL to its intersection with the Southwest National Park boundary (approximate MGA point469793mE 5224642mN), then northerly via the national park boundary to the commencement point.

15.     COOKS RIVULET – An area of 335 ha commencing at the intersection of the Southwest National Park boundary with the 650m ASL (approximate MGA point 468930mE 5219770mN), then westerly via the 650m ASL to its intersection with an unnamed tributary of Cook Creek (approximate MGA point 466817mE 5220083mN), then southerly via the unnamed tributary to its intersection with Cook Creek (approximate MGA point 466787mE 5219587mN), then south easterly via Cook Creek to its intersection with the Southwest National Park boundary (approximate MGA point 469585mE 5218454mN), then northerly and north westerly via the national park boundary to the commencement point.

16.     FARMHOUSE CREEK – An area of 334 ha commencing at the intersection of the Southwest National Park boundary with the 700m ASL (approximate MGA point 470025mE 5214755mN), then south westerly via the 700m ASL to its intersection with an unnamed tributary of Burgess Creek (approximate MGA point 468651mE 5213850mN), then southerly via the unnamed tributary to its intersection with Burgess Creek (approximate MGA point 468658mE 5213187mN), then generally easterly via Burgess Creek to its intersection with Farmhouse Creek (approximate MGA point 470812mE 5212674mN), then easterly via Farmhouse Creek to its intersection with the Southwest National Park boundary (approximate MGA point 471293mE 5212875mN), then north westerly via the national park boundary to the commencement point.

17.     EAST PICTON – An area of 405 ha commencing at the intersection of the Southwest National Park boundary with an unnamed tributary of the Picton River (approximate MGA point 474964mE 5213326mN), then southerly via a line offset by 220m to the east of the middle thread of the Picton River to its intersection with the Southwest National Park boundary (approximate MGA point 475976mE 5211292mN), then north easterly, northerly and westerly via the national park boundary to the commencement point.

18.     HASTINGS CAVES – An area of 1,252 ha commencing at the intersection of the Southwest National Park boundary with the 400m ASL (approximate MGA point 488428mE 5199670mN), the generally south westerly via the 400m ASL to its intersection with an unnamed tributary of the Lune River (approximate MGA point 482267mE 5191468mN), then generally easterly via the unnamed tributary to its intersection with MGA northing 5191468mN (approximate MGA point 482531mE 5191468mN), then directly to the intersection of an unnamed tributary of Moonlight Creek with MGA easting 483652mE (approximate MGA point 483652mE 5190950mN), then easterly via the unnamed tributary to its intersection with the Southwest National Park boundary (approximate MGA point 484534mE 5191135mN), then westerly and north easterly via the national park boundary to the commencement point.

19.     D’ENTRECASTEAUX RIVER – An area of 1,447 ha  commencing at the intersection of the Southwest National Park boundary with the D’Entrecasteaux River (approximate MGA point 488693Me 5184686mN), then directly to MGA point 487275mE 5184465mN, then directly to the intersection of an unnamed tributary of the D’Entrecasteaux River with an unnamed creek (approximate MGA point 486393mE 5183757mN), then south westerly via the unnamed tributary to its intersection with the 200m ASL (approximate MGA point484594mE 5183256mN), then generally south westerly via the 200m ASL to its intersection with the Southwest National Park boundary (approximate MGA point 487816mE 5179868mN), then generally northerly via the national park boundary to the commencement point.

20.     CATAMARAN RIVER – An area of 390 ha commencing at the intersection of the Southwest National Park boundary with the Catamaran River (approximate MGA point 486488mE 5177453mN), then westerly via the Catamaran River to its intersection MGA northing 5177270mN (approximate MGA point484684mE 5177270mN), then directly to MGA point 483874mE 5176411mN), then southerly via the ridgeline between the South Cape Rivulet and the Catamaran River catchment area to its intersection with the Southwest National Park boundary (approximate MGA point 484060mE 5174684mN), then north westerly and northerly via the national park boundary to the commencement point.

22.     DEVILS GULLET – An area of 302 ha commencing at the intersection of the Devils Gullet State Reserve boundary with MGA northing 5385113mN (approximate MGA point 443831mE 5385113mN), then via the following MGA points consecutively; 443591mE 5385153mN, 443931mE 5386913mN, then westerly via the edge of the plateau to a corner on the Devils Gullet State Reserve boundary (approximate MGA point 442851mE 5387126mN), then westerly, southerly and easterly via the state reserve boundary to the commencement point.
