CHAMPION SHOTS MEDAL

DETERMINATION

I, WILLIAM GEORGE HAYDEN, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, having received the approval of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the design of the Champion Shots Medal, and acting under regulations 5 and 6 of the Champion Shots Medal Regulations, determine as follows:

Medal design

1. The Champion Shots Medal is a circular antiqued brass medal 38 millimetres in diameter ensigned with the Crown of Saint Edward, also in antiqued brass, with two wreaths of laurel leaves surrounding a device of two crossed rifles superimposed on the stars of the Southern Cross on the obverse and no design on the reverse.

Medal ribbon

2. The Medal is suspended from a ribbon, 32 millimetres wide, having a central dark blue vertical band 8 millimetres wide flanked by two vertical bands of red 6 millimetres wide which are in turn flanked by two vertical bands of light blue 6 millimetres wide.

Date bar

3. A clasp in the form of a date bar inscribed with the year the award was won is worn attached to the ribbon.

Medal dress

4. The Medal must be worn on the left breast whenever full size orders, decorations and medals are worn.

Further awards

5. Second and subsequent awards are recognised by the presentation of a further date bar to be attached to the ribbon of the original award, and the wearing of a ribbon bar emblem in the form of a disc of antiqued brass 6 millimetres in diameter bearing a device of two laurel wreaths.

Medal miniature

6. The miniature of the Champion Shots Medal  is a half-size replica of the Medal suspended from a miniature ribbon 16 millimetres wide. The miniature Medal is worn whenever miniatures of orders, decorations and medals are worn.

Order of Precedence

7. The Medal is worn in accordance with the Australian Order of Precedence of Honours and Awards as approved from time to time by The Sovereign.
