Wireless Telegraphy Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1905.

After regulation 65 of the Wireless Telegraphy Regulations the following Part is inserted:

"PART IVA—ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS RELATING TO CITIZEN BAND RADIO STATIONS

Emergency channels

"65A. The licensee of a citizen band radio station shall not, except in cases of emergency, operate that station on a carrier frequency of 27.065 or 476.525 megahertz.

Call channels

"65B. (1) Subject to sub-regulation (2) the licensee of a citizen band radio station shall not operate that station on a carrier frequency of 27.085, 27.155 or 476.675 megahertz except—

(a) for the purpose of initiating contact with other citizen band radio stations; or

(b) in cases of emergency, where both the carrier frequencies referred to in regulation 65a are not available.


"(2) The carrier frequencies referred to in sub-regulation (1) shall not be used, except—

(a) in the case of a carrier frequency of 27.085 megahertz—for double sideband amplitude modulated transmissions;

(b) in the case of a carrier frequency of 27.155 megahertz—for single sideband amplitude modulated transmissions employing the lower sideband of that carrier frequency; and

(c) in the case of a carrier frequency of 476.675 megahertz—for angle modulated transmissions.".
