Electoral Officers (Remuneration and Allowances) Regulations

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council and in pursuance of section 4 of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901, hereby make the following Regulations under the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918.

Citation

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Electoral Officers (Remuneration and Allowances) Regulations.

Interpretation

2. In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears—

“electoral officer” means the Electoral Commissioner, the Deputy Electoral Commissioner or an Australian Electoral Officer for a State;

“the Act” means the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918.

Remuneration

3. Remuneration at the rate per annum specified in column 3 of an item in the Schedule is prescribed for the purposes of sub-section 7q (1) of the Act in respect of an electoral officer specified in column 2 of that item.


Annual allowance

4. Annual allowance at the rate per annum, if any, specified in column 4 of an item in the Schedule is prescribed for the purposes of sub-section 7q (2) of the Act in respect of an electoral officer specified in column 2 of that item.

Further allowances of electoral officers

5. In addition to annual allowance prescribed in regulation 4, the following allowances are prescribed for the purposes of sub-section 7q (2) of the Act, namely, the allowances payable to an officer of the Australian Public Service.
