STATES GRANTS (ADVANCED EDUCATION ASSISTANCE) AMENDMENT ACT 1977
An Act to amend the States Grants (Advanced Education) Act 1976 and the States Grants (Advanced Education Assistance) Act 1976, and for related purposes.
BE IT ENACTED by the Queen, and the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—
PART I—PRELIMINARY
Short title.
1. This Act may be cited as the States Grants (Advanced Education Assistance) Amendment Act 1977.
Commencement.
2. This Act shall come into operation on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
PART II—AMENDMENTS OF THE STATES GRANTS (ADVANCED EDUCATION) ACT 1976
Principal Act.
3. The States Grants (Advanced Education) Act 1976 is in this Part referred to as the Principal Act.
Recurrent grants in respect of student residences and affiliated colleges.
4. Section 9 of the Principal Act is amended—
(a) by omitting from sub-section (2) the figures “$8,000” and substituting the figures “$8,083”;
(b) by omitting from sub-section (2) the figures “$125.72” and substituting the figures “$127.02”;
(c) by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-section (4) the figures “$285.73” and substituting the figures “$288.68”;
(d) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-section (4) the figures “$285.73” and substituting the figures “$288.68”;
(e) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-section (4) the figures “$2.29” and substituting the figures “$2.31”;
(f) by omitting from paragraph (c) of sub-section (4) the figures “$228.48” and substituting the figures “$230.94”;
(g) by omitting from paragraph (c) of sub-section (4) the figures “$0.91” and substituting the figures “$0.92”; and
Schedules 1 and 2.
5. Schedules 1 and 2 to the Principal Act are repealed and the following Schedules substituted:—

Approvals and determinations under Principal Act.
6. An approval given under sub-section 4(1) of the Principal Act, or a determination made under paragraph 6(2)(a) or (b), 12(2)(a) or (b) or 12(6)(a) or (b) of the Principal Act, and in force immediately before the commencement of this Act shall, by force of this section, cease to have effect upon the commencement of this Act, but this section shall not be taken to affect the previous operation of the approval or determination, as the case may be.
Payments made before Royal Assent.
7. Payments made to a State under the Principal Act before the date on which this Act receives the Royal Assent shall be deemed to have been made for the purposes of the Principal Act as amended by this Act.

Approvals and determinations under Principal Act.
12. An approval given under sub-section 4(1) of the Principal Act or a determination made under paragraph 6(2)(a) or (b), 8(2)(a) or (b) or 8(6)(a) or (b) of the Principal Act shall, by force of this section, cease to have effect upon the commencement of this Act, but this section shall not be taken to affect the previous operation of the approval or determination, as the case may be.
