REGULATIONS UNDER THE PARLIAMENTARY ALLOWANCES ACT 1952.*

WHEREAS by sub-section (2.) of section five of the Parliamentary Allowances Act 1952 it is provided that each member of the House of Representatives shall receive, in addition to the allowance referred to in sub-section (1.) of that section, an allowance, in respect of the expenses of discharging his duties, at the yearly rate specified in the Second Schedule to that Act in respect of the Electoral Division for which he is the member:

And whereas by sub-section (3.) of that section it is provided that the Governor-General may, after report to the Prime Minister by the Commissioner of Taxation, make regulations providing that the allowance payable under sub-section (2.) of that section to the member of the House of Representatives for an Electoral Division be at a yearly rate specified in the Second Schedule to that Act other than the yearly rate which would otherwise be applicable to that member:

And whereas the Commissioner of Taxation has made a report to the Prime Minister in respect of the allowance payable under sub-section (2.) of that section to the member of the House of Representatives for the Electoral Division of Forrest:

Now therefore I, the Governor-General in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Parliamentary Allowances Act 1952.

Parliamentary Allowances Regulations.

Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Parliamentary Allowances Regulations.

Allowance payable to member for Forrest.

2.—(1.) The allowance payable under sub-section (2.) of section 5 of the Parliamentary Allowances Act 1952 to the member of the House of Representatives for the Electoral Division of Forrest shall be at the yearly rate of Seven hundred and fifty pounds.

(2.) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on the first day of July, 1954.
