REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE (TRANSITIONAL PROVISIONS) ACT 1946.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence (Transitional Provisions) Act 1946.

Amendments of the National Security (Economic Organization) Regulations.

Industrial Authority not to alter wages.

1. Regulation 16 of the National Security (Economic Organization) Regulations is amended by omitting the figures and word “18b or 18c” and inserting in their stead the figures and word “18b, 18c or 19”.

2. After regulation 18c of the National Security (Economic Organization) Regulations the following regulation is inserted in Part V.:—

Alteration as the result of a reduction of ordinary working hours.

“19. Nothing in this Part shall prevent the payment or acceptance of remuneration in respect of any employment at an altered rate where the alteration is the result of, or consequential upon, a reduction of the ordinary working hours obtaining in respect of that employment and the reduction is made by or under any provision of a State Act, being a provision which comes into force after the commencement of this regulation.”.

† Being the Regulations having that title as in force under the Defence (Transitional Provisions) Act 1946, as amended by Statutory Rules 1947, Nos. 32, 43 and 69 (Statutory Rules 1947, No. 49, which purported to amend these regulations, was not tabled within the prescribed time and, by virtue of section 48 (3.) of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901-1941, is void and of no effect).
