REGULATION UNDER THE QUARANTINE ACT 1908-1920.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation, to come into operation forthwith, and I declare that the said regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation as from the twenty-third day of November, 1922.

Amendment of Quarantine Regulations 1917.

A. The Quarantine Regulations 1917 (Statutory Rules No. 112 of 1917 and No. 98 of 1921) are amended—

(1) By omitting paragraph (d) of regulation 128 and inserting in its stead the following paragraph:—

(d) Dried Fruit—

Dried Fruit, such as Raisins, Currants, Prunes, Figs, Dates and Apples (other than in air-tight receptacles or similar intact packages)—Two pence (2d.) per packet for 100 packages or part thereof or for the first 100 packages in any consignment; One penny (1d.) per package for each additional package over 100 up to 300 packages; Six pence (6d.) for each additional 10 packages over 300 up to 500 packages; Two pence (2d.) for each additional 10 packages over 500 up to 1,000 packages; One penny (1d.) for each, additional 10 packages in consignments of over 1,000 packages.

Provided that the charges for Figs, Raisins, Sultanas, Dates, &c., when packed in small boxes or cartons enclosed within a larger case shall be:—

One penny (1d.) per dozen boxes or cartons or part thereof when they do not exceed 1 lb. each in weight; and Two pence (2d.) per dozen boxes or cartons or part thereof when they are over 1 lb. each in weight.

(2) By omitting paragraph (e) of regulation 128 and inserting in its stead the following:—

(e) Cereals, Pulse and Other Seeds—

Cereals, Pulse, Vegetable and similar seeds in bulk or in wholesale packages, Two pence (2d.) per cental up to 100 centals; Sixpence (6d.) per 20 cental or part thereof from 100 to 400 centals in each consignment; Two pence (2d.) per 20 centals or part thereof above 400 centals in each consignment.


(3) By omitting paragraph (2) of regulation 128A and inserting in its stead the following paragraph:—

(2) (a) For fumigation with Bisulphate of Carbon:—

Nuts, Dried Fruit, Cocoa Beans, Coffee Beans, Tapioca Root, &c., packed in bags or cases (excepting Dried Fruits, Figs, Raisins, Sultanas, Dates, &c., packed in small boxes or cartons enclosed within a larger case)—

For 25 bags or eases or part thereof—Ninepence (9d.) per bag or case;

For each additional bag or case over 25 up to 100—Fourpence (4d.);

For each additional bag or case over 100—Threepence (3d.).

(b) Dried Fruits, Figs, Raisins, Sultanas, Dates, &c., packed in small boxes or cartons enclosed within a larger case—Two shillings (2s.) per case.

(c) Cereals, Pulse and other Seeds—For 100 bushels or part thereof or for the first 100 bushels; in any consignment—Ninepence (9d.) for each 10 bushels or part thereof;

For additional quantities over 100 bushels but not exceeding 500 bushels—Sixpence (6d.) for every 10 bushels or part thereof;

For additional quantities exceeding 500 bushels—Threepence (3d.) for every 10 bushels or part thereof.

(4) By omitting Clause 4 of regulation 128a and inserting in its stead the following clause:—

(4) The minimum charge for fumigation with Hydrocyanic Acid Gas or with Bisulphate of Carbon shall be One shilling (1s.).

B. Statutory Rules 1922 No. 151 are hereby repealed.
