REGULATION UNDER THE WAR PRECAUTIONS ACT 1914-1916.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the War Precautions Act 1914-1916 to come into operation forthwith.

Amendment of War Precautions (Supplementary) Regulations.

After regulation 41 of the War Precautions (Supplementary) Regulations, the following regulation is inserted:—

Lotteries in connexion with War Loan.

“42. (1) Notwithstanding anything contained in any State law, any person may with the consent in writing of the Treasurer of the Commonwealth, establish and conduct any lottery for the purpose of any loan raised by the Commonwealth for war purposes, so long as the conditions laid down by the Treasurer of the Commonwealth in connexion with such establishment and conduct are complied with.

(2) Notwithstanding anything contained in any State law, it shall not be an offence to purchase or sell any ticket in a lottery established and conducted in pursuance of this regulation, or to print publish exhibit or circulate in any manner any matter relating thereto, or to be concerned in the establishment or conduct of any such lottery.”
