REGULATIONS UNDER THE WAR PRECAUTIONS ACT 1914–1916.

War Precautions (Passports) Regulations 1916.—Regulation 5.—Amendment.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the War Precaution Act 1914–1916 to come into operation on and from the 31st day of October, 1916.

War Precautions (Passports) Regulations 1916.

Amendment.

Paragraph 5 is amended by omitting that portion of sub-paragraph (1) which reads as follows: —

“(ii) any member of the crew of any vessel who has signed on in any country outside the Commonwealth and who leaves the Commonwealth in continuation of the same voyage in the same vessel, or any member of the crew of any vessel who signed on in Australia for an oversea voyage who satisfies a competent naval or military authority that he is by occupation a seafaring man;”

and substituting the following:—

“(ii) any alien member of the crew of an oversea vessel arriving in the Commonwealth—

who lands for the purpose of registering himself under the War Precautions (Aliens Registration) Regulations 1916, and who for that purpose goes without delay to the office of an aliens registration officer and there registers himself; or

who subsequently to his registration lands at any port having on his person the certificate of his registration, provided that he rejoins his vessel during her stay in that port; or

who leaves the Commonwealth in continuation of the same voyage in the same vessel,

“(iia) any member of the crew of any vessel who signs on in Australia for an oversea voyage who satisfies a competent naval or military authority that he is by occupation a seafaring man;”
