REGULATIONS UNDER THE WAR PRECAUTIONS ACT 1914–1916.
War Precautions (Aliens Registration) Regulations, 1916— Regulations 4 and 7—Additions.
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL, in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the War Precautions Act 1914–1916 to come into operation forthwith.

War Precautions (Aliens Registration) Regulations, 1916.
Additions.
At the end of paragraph 4, which reads as follows: —
Aliens Registration Officers.
4. For the purposes of these Regulations the members of the police force in charge of the respective Police Stations throughout the Commonwealth shall be Aliens Registration Officers.
add the following words: —
The Chief Officer of Police of any State may appoint any member of the police force or other person to be an Aliens Registration Officer.
At the end of paragraph 7, which reads as follows:—
Manner of affecting registration.
7. Registration as an alien in accordance with these Regulations shall be effected by the alien properly completing a notice (in duplicate) in accordance with Form A in the Schedule to these Regulations, and attending in person with such notice before the Aliens Registration Officer nearest to his usual place of abode or, in the case of a member of the crew of a vessel, before the Aliens Registration Officer nearest to the vessel.
add the following words:—
Any alien resident in the Commonwealth who on account of absence from his usual place of abode is unable before the 31st day of October, 1916, to attend before the Aliens Registration Officer nearest to his usual place of abode may attend before any other Aliens Registration Officer for the purpose of registering himself. In such case the alien on returning to his usual place of abode shall give notice of change of abode in accordance with paragraph 9.
